New Beach Volleyball Rules for Women
Effective 2004
Tank tops and shorts now required
In accordance with the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), new rules for women's beach volleyball have been implemented since 2004. These rules require female athletes to wear tank tops and shorts during competition. The tank top must cover the torso and shoulders, while the shorts must be at least 4 inches in length. This change in attire is aimed at providing more coverage and protection for female athletes.
The FIVB has stated that these new rules are in line with their commitment to promoting gender equality in beach volleyball. They believe that this change will help to create a more level playing field for female athletes and encourage more women to participate in the sport.
