Election Dates Announced: Lok Sabha Election 2019 Schedule Released
Important Dates and Timeline
The Election Commission of India has unveiled the official dates and schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2019:
- April 11: Phase 1 of voting
- April 18: Phase 2 of voting
- April 23: Phase 3 of voting
- April 29: Phase 4 of voting
- May 6: Phase 5 of voting
- May 12: Phase 6 of voting
- May 19: Phase 7 of voting and end of all polling
- May 23: Declaration of results
Seven-Phase Voting Schedule
The election will be conducted in seven phases to ensure smooth and orderly voting across the country. Each phase will cover a specific set of constituencies.
The first phase of voting will take place in 91 constituencies spread across 18 states and two Union Territories. Subsequent phases will cover additional constituencies, with the final phase concluding on May 19.
Preparation and Logistics
The Election Commission has put in place extensive measures to prepare for the massive logistical exercise. Over 1 million polling stations will be set up across the country to facilitate voting by an estimated 900 million eligible electors.
Security forces will be deployed to ensure the safety and security of voters and polling stations. Strict measures will be in place to prevent any irregularities or malpractices.
