Rollbacks Can Fail After Update

If you are attempting to rollback to Windows 7 from Microsoft Windows 8 or 10 or from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or 10 after Microsoft has released an update the rollback can fail when attempting to load the Intel AMT drivers. This device is not installed by using the Intel Chipset Driver software or Intel Management Interface MEI software. The only way to recover is to do a clean install of the operating system.

Rollbacks to Windows 7 from Windows 10 or 8.1 using the Acer Recovery Media Can Fail

When attempting to recover the operating system from Microsoft Window 8 or 10 to Windows 7 or from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or 10 after Microsoft has released an update the rollback can fail when attempting to load the Intel AMT drivers. This device is not installed by using the Intel Chipset Driver software or Intel Management Interface MEI software. The only way to recover is to do a clean install of the operating system.

If you are using the Acer Recovery Media to rollback to Windows 7 from Windows 10 or 8.1 you can use the following steps to get to a command prompt and install the drivers:

1. Boot from the Acer Recovery Media.
   
2. Click on Repair your computer.
   
3. Click on Troubleshoot.
   
4. Click on Advanced options.
   
5. Click on Command Prompt.
   
6. Type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

list disk
select disk 0
list partition
select partition 1
assign letter=c
exit
md c:\Intel
cd c:\Intel
expand c:\windows\system32\drivers\iaStor.sys c:\intel\iaStor.inf
expand c:\windows\system32\drivers\iaStorAC.sys c:\intel\iaStorAC.inf
expand c:\windows\system32\drivers\ichimpo.sys c:\intel\ichimpo.inf
expand c:\windows\system32\drivers\iapmt.sys c:\intel\iapmt.inf
exit
shutdown /r /t 0 ```

Once the computer has rebooted, the Intel AMT drivers will be installed and you will be able to continue with the rollback process.
